Baby Moon/ Anniversary/ Fall Break

We were able to get away for 4 days down in Moab, UT.  It was the last of the Utah National Parks that we had yet to hike and we wanted to make sure that we checked it off the list before the baby comes in case we become a bit limited in our adventures :)  Moab is this touristy town in the middle of nowhere desert, Western, USA.  It is bordered by the iconic Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.  We arrived after stopping at In N Out Burger on the way and immediately hiked Delicate Arch, because, well, you have to do Delicate Arch.

Then we ate at the Moab Brewery and instead of waiting for an hour and a half, we popped into the bar and shared a table with some mountain bikers.  We felt proud of ourselves for going veggie that night.

The next day we went to Island in the Sky on the north end of Canyonlands for an 11 mile hike around Murphy's Point.  We tag-teamed with a couple from the Netherlands who we managed to bump into 2 more times in Moab over the the next couple days.  The hike was gorgeous and long, perfect for a beautiful day spent hiking.  We dedicated this day to our Baby Moon and spent lots of time talking about parenting, our hopes and fears, and praying for Plumpers.

The next day was our actual two year anniversary.  We spent a lot of time reflecting over the past year, being thankful for all the friends and family that we visited with and all the amazing adventures that we were fortunate to do. We also shared what we are looking forward to in this new year, another one of major transitions.  We went down to the Needles District of Canyonlands for a "popular" 8 mile hike around Chestler Park.  We saw two other people.  It was a completely different landscape, but again, really cool.  I felt like we were in a Gaudi building or on Mars all day.

Our last day, we got up early and hiked Devil's Garden in Arches.  It was awesome watching the sun rise over the rock formations.  We saw all the arches before the crowds came and headed back home to the real world with a pit stop in Green River for watermelons.
